About Us

We’re here to bring game-changing assistive and inclusive design to everyone.

DEMAND is the disability charity that’s been creating unique inclusive designs since 1980. We believe that disability needn’t be a barrier to access, comfort, independence, learning, earning, and so many other aspects of a fulfilling life.

We work with disabled individuals to harness the power of great design and make new things possible. See the results of our innovative work making a real impact today as disabled artists explore their creativity with the wheelchair accessible FREASEL and athletes enjoy competing with our range of accessible sports equipment and boccia ramps.

“I'm delighted to report your invention is working fantastically!”

Our innovations are made by DEMAND and on demand. Each of our designs starts with a challenge brought to our attention by someone looking for a solution. They may have mobility aids or disability products that don’t meet their needs, or be searching for something that just doesn’t yet exist!

“The design is fantastic. We had high expectations and these have been exceeded.”

We believe ‘rarely encountered’ challenges are equally worthy of being solved as those that affect the masses, so we deal with challenges that affect the few, rather than the many.

A person with long wavy hair faces the camera while they touch a paintbrush to a canvas held on a freasel which is not in the image.

“I can’t even put inside words how much it has changed my life.”

When tackling a design challenge we focus on finding solutions that are both effective and repeatable, so they can go on to have a lasting impact for as many people who need it. Making our disability equipment in our own workshop means we can maintain the high quality and safety standards you’d expect.

“I can’t express enough the joy. It is an amazing resource.”

Our design work is funded entirely by people who see the incredible value our work has for disabled people. If you love what we do, you can help us do more of it by donating here!
