Funding assistive equipment - Benefits, Grants, and Local support

Assistive equipment can be a real game-changer, though it can often be costly to get what you need. Self-funding is just one option, and there are several alternative funding routes to consider that could help you get the adaptive equipment you need.

Benefits can sometimes be helpful in obtaining assistive equipment or mobility aids. To check if you are receiving your full benefit entitlement, Turn2Us offers a handy calculator that can be accessed online.

Could you be eligible for a grant? Disability equipment grants from charitable organisations can fund many types of assistive devices including mobility equipment, daily living equipment, accessible sports equipment and much more. DisabilityGrants.org publishes a list of grants for general disability equipment, disability sports, arts, music, mobility equipment and more.

Seeking support in your local area: Organisations such as Lions clubs, Rotary International clubs and Round Table groups operate in many towns and cities and are often looking for ways to support their local communities. You could speak to your local group and ask if they would be interested in supporting you with a donation of the assistive technology or daily living equipment you need. Find your local Lions group, Round Table group and Rotary International club
